International Trade Operations

Your first step will be to examine your transport or shipping options. You can hire expertise with a customs broker or a freight forwarder who will help with shipping documentation.

The U.S. International Trade Administration offers a guide to help you Navigate Shipping and Logistics.

Freight Forwarders

What do they do? Freight forwarders are the agents helping you export your product. They give advice on shipping and other modes of transportation and distribution.  Freight forwarders also help with negotiating international freight rates, licensing and insurance, packaging and labeling, and export documentation.

How to find one - Most freight forwarders belong to the National Customs Brokers and forwarders Association of America.
