How to Highlight, Annotate and Extract

Exercise: Try annotating this

 

1)  Save an article into your Zotero library. Here is one:

2) Open the attachment from your Zotero library on your desktop

 

3) Highlight a passage by selecting the text you want to highlight and right clicking, then select the highlighter tool (this example uses Adobe Acrobat DC):

 

 

 

4) Write a note about the passage. Left click (regular click) on the passage you want to take a note about (in this case it's the same text I just highlighted). An option to add a note will appear as a bubble caption icon.

 

 

Select it, and enter in your note:

 

 

5) Save the PDF and close it

 

6) Extract it. In your Zotero library, right click on the attachment. You will get a dropdown menu.

Choose Manage attachments, then select Extract Annotations:

 

 

7) Zotfile will extract highlights and notes and put them into a note document that is attached

to the parent item:
