Sort Files by Attachment

Execute moving your attachments to the Dropbox folder by “renaming” then

 

1) Open Zotero your Zotero pane and sort everything by “Attachments” .

 

(If you don't have an attachments column header, see the last box on this screen for instructions about how to add it.)

 

Sort by attachments by clicking on the paper clip column header at the top of your library once .

This will bring all of the parent items in your library to the top of the screen that have attachments.

Zotero items that have attachments will have a little green icon next to them.

 

 

2) Select all of the items that have attachments.

To do this quickly, first click on the first item on the list, then hold down the shift button on your keyboard, and then click on the last item on the list that has attachments. This will highlight all of them:

3) Right click on the now highlighted items,  and then click on "manage attachments", then click "Rename attachments" (renaming them causes them to move to the designated Dropbox storage folder):

 

 

4) You should get a java script message saying are you sure? Say yes.

All attachments should now appear as linked attachments instead of normal PDF icons. If you look in the Dropbox folder you designated, you should see your files.

 

How to add a Column Header for Attachments (If you don't have one)

If you don’t have a column header for attachments you can add one by clicking on the column header icon on the right side of the Zotero column headings (see circled icon):

 

 

A window will open that allows you to choose what column header you want displayed at the top. I recommend you select the following three:
