SEC Filings

The 20-F and the 6-K

  • Form 20-F must be filed by all foreign companies with shares listed on U.S. stock exchanges
  • Form 20-F filings often contain a foreign company's annual report
  • Reports must be filed within 6 months of the end of the fiscal year. Filings are updated in the 6-K report
  • The purpose of Form 20-F is to standardize the reporting requirements of foreign-based companies so investors can evaluate them alongside U.S.equities
  • NYSE rules require that 20-F filers must also make the report available on the company's website
