Factiva
News from the Dow Jones and Reuters wire services, the Wall Street Journal, Barron’s and more than 9,000 other newspapers, magazines and trade journals. Factiva is one of the largest databases covering global business news. To search for industry news, use the “Industry Lookup” to select Factiva’s industry code. Combine this code with index terms like market share or industry trends/analysis from the “Subject Lookup."
Business Source Complete
The database has a “Thesaurus” to help you choose industry names. Search for industry information using NAICS codes by changing the default field to "NAICS code or description."
ABI/INFORM Global
Indexes over 1800 business magazines and scholarly journals covering management, accounting, economics, and finance. Use the thesaurus (at the top of the page) to find industry names.
Nexis Uni
Find company profiles and business and industry news. From the Menu (top of the screen), choose “Business” and enter the company name.

Tips for Searching the News

Searching for news about foreign companies often requires extensive digging through many sources.

Be creative in setting up your search. Follow some of these tips:

1. Search multiple databases. You never know which newspaper or magazine will cover your company.

2. Search trade journals and industry newsletters. Look for information about the company's products or brands as well as the company itself.

3. Search local and regional news. If the company is private or operates regionally, search the company's hometown paper.

4. Search for news about company executives. Often companies are closely identified with their CEO. Search by the CEO's name rather than the Company name.
